HAND OF GOODNESS

“The family is the cornerstone of our society. More than any other force it shapes the attitude, the hopes, the ambitions, and the values of the child. And when the family collapses it is the children that are usually damaged. When it happens on a massive scale the community itself is crippled.

So, unless we work to strengthen the family, to create conditions under which most parents will stay together--all the rest: schools, and playgrounds, and public assistance, and private concern, will never be enough to cut completely the circle of despair and deprivation.”

Lyndon B. Johnson, the 36th President of the United States, spoke these inspiring words almost 57 years ago, and they still ring true and apply just as strongly today.

Many underprivileged families face difficulties as a result of family instability and insecurity, whereas upper-income and rich families benefit greatly from superior parenting skills and sufficient resources. We are increasingly seeing a parenting gap or diverging destinies, in which upper-income parents have more and better time and money to spend on activities that promote their child's educational and social development, buy into safe neighborhoods with good schools, and so on, than lower-income parents.

Hand of Goodness nonprofit organization is a community-strengthening resource, and its activities break down barriers to a more prosperous society.

We serve children, youth, and families in a variety of ways, including but not limited to health, education, sports, and social activities, with the goal of fostering a more prosperous and interconnected community.

The organization strives to incorporate educational materials into all of its programs and activities because education is important in today's society because it helps one gain a better reputation, increases one's chances of climbing the career ladder more easily and quickly, and can also lead to more accurate health beliefs and knowledge, and thus to better lifestyle choices, but also to better skills and greater self-advocacy.

All of our programs are distinctive and unique, and their concepts are inspired by the needs of our community.

Despite our best efforts as volunteers, we are unable to fully run our programs and activities to achieve the objectives we have set because of the lack of funding.
